Organic Soilless Products
Our Products-
Our mixes are made from non mined products (except for some nutrient charges). The source materials are
from the agricultural waste stream, yielding the most sustainable mixes available. A high quality product that
reduces the waste stream. Our high drainage mixes grow plants without dampening off issues and reduced
water labor.

SCF Premium Soil Less Mix - The is the Mix we started the whole line with, growing thousands of plants
every spring in. 100% Organic, approved for Organic Production Systems by multiple certifiers. It is a coir
based, peat free mix with a nutrient charge that supplies the plant for the first four weeks of growing. Our mix
generates higher germination rates and requires less watering. Typically plants can be watered 1/2 as much as
in peat based soils.  (Do not over water! Only water when drying below the surface.)  Place soil in seed trays,
dimple with finger, place in seed, cover with a small amount of mix, thoroughly water. Water again when just
below the surface appears dry. It is best if used in deep seed trays. Typically transplant seedlings to a larger
pot in 4-6 weeks.

Hi-Ca Soil Less mix - This is a premium mix with added calcium, compost, coir, rice hulls, composted pine
bark and OMRI approved fertilizer. This mix is a higher cost mix, used for growing high value crops such as
medical herbs. Great results will more than offset it's additional cost.

SCF HiDra-2 Soil Less Mix (seed starter)  -
HiDra-2 is a smoother version of our previous HiDra mix. This mix with compost and high drainage
characteristics is what we grow all our seed starts on the farm with. We grow thousands of plants every spring
in. 100% Organic, approved for Organic Production Systems by multiple certifiers. It is a coir based, peat free
mix with compost and an approved nutrient charge that supplies the plant for the first four - six weeks of
growing. Our mix generates higher germination rates and requires less watering. Typically plants can be
watered 1/2 as much as in peat based soils.  Place soil in seed trays, dimple with finger, place in seed, cover
with a small amount of mix, thoroughly water. Water again when just below the surface appears dry. It is best if
used in deep seed trays. Typically transplant seedlings to a larger pot in 4-6 weeks.

SCF HiDra Soil Less Mix (seed starter)  -
This mix is coarser than HiDra-2 . This mix with compost and higher drainage characteristics is what we grow
all our seed starts on the farm with.  100% Organic, approved for Organic Production Systems by multiple
certifiers. It is a coir based, peat free mix with compost and an  approved nutrient charge that supplies the
plant for the first four - six weeks of growing. Our mix generates higher germination rates and requires less
watering. Typically plants can be watered 1/2 as much as in peat based soils.  Place soil in seed trays, dimple
with finger, place in seed, cover with a small amount of mix, thoroughly water. Water again when just below the
surface appears dry. It is best if used in deep seed trays. Typically transplant seedlings to a larger pot in 4-6
weeks.

SCF HiDraS Soil Less Mix (seed starter)  -

SCF PotUp Soil Less Mix - For potting plants up from seed trays to larger pots. Additional drainage
materials, Contains Compost, Coir Based. This mix has no nutrient charge and users can add their own
preferred mixture of nutrients. Great for getting big plants with strong roots in the greenhouse. A slightly less
expensive mix for filling large pots.

SCF Container Mix - A balanced higher drainage mix for growing organic plants in containers. A cost effective
solution that has only organic approved materials. Contains a full nutrient charge.

SCF Multi-Mix  - Our multimix is a cross between our container mix and planting mix. It can be used in eithe
r application with the following instructions. As a planting mix just use as the planting mix. When used in
a container add 2.5lbs of 5-3-4 fertilizer per 2 cuft bag used. A great combination is our multimix on the bottom
of the container and topped with our seed starting mix. With the proper amount of fertilizer added to the
multimix this dynamite combination grows very healthy plants! This product is mined material free, meaning no
mined materials are used in it's manufacture

TiP! - When filling a large growing container like an earth box, layer in your
material. Use our container mix or Multi Mixfor the lower base level, add a layer
of organic slow release fertilizer (strips about 1/8" thick 2" wide across the box)
then top with our premium or H
iDra-2 soil mix. Water well, let stabilize then
plant! Don't fill your box to the top, mixes may expand as they take on water!
Don't over water, water coming out the bottom of your container is taking
nutrients with it! If you get too wet, and get molds allow soil to dry until plants
start to wilt, then water again. Things should reset fine.
Tip! - If when you get our soil it is dry, place in a tub (with no drain holes)
and add water. Allow the mix to soak up the water. Repeat until soil is fully
hydrated with water but not dripping. Placing soil in a container with drain
holes and trying to initally hydrate will just cause water to run through mix
taking nutrients with it.
TIP! - In your garden mix in our plantng mix in the top 4 inches of soil. Mix in
till 10- 50%, depending on how good you soil condition is. Plant then water.
The mix will help your soil moderate moisture, prevent erosion and loosen for
proper root growth. Adds organic matter!
TIP! - Use our premium or Hidra series mix to start your seeds 6-8 weeks
before last frost date to get a head start on the season. Starting seeds is a
great educational project for children.
TIP! - Use our Planting Mix or MultiMix while planting perrenial and shrubs.
Use 2 gallons in the bottom of the hole. Our mix adds organic matter and
nutrients. It helps preserve moisture and adds nutrients. This aids in helping
young plants establish strong roots.
Tip! - Our Mixes are around PH 7, if your water is alikline consider using
captured rain water for irrigating. Hard waters with too much lime can move the
PH of the mix too high.
Our History - Summer Creek Farm was founded in 1992,
our farmer/owner Rick Hood has been involved in organic
farming since 1984. Our potting soil was developed because
we were not satisfied with any organic products on the market.
We set about to develop a better soil, one that had better
germination, use less water and less energy to produce. Our
soils don't use peat, but coir instead a better product that is
more sustainable. Our coir is hydrated and expanded, not
ground like others that damage it's natural long fiber structure.
We even use captured rain water to do the hydration! We
don't use perlite but rice hulls, a product that uses much less
energy to produce. Our products are all organic, cleared for
use under multiple organic certifiers restrictions. We don't just
make soils, we grow in them! Our growing experience is
packed in every bag. Our promise to you is high quality
products, always organic and always tried by us on our farm
before they ever reach your garden.
